Boredom and stress

If you are feeling bored lately, it might not be that you have nothing to do but rather that you have too much!

A thousand voices are jabbering in your head, telling you what to do next.You may feel overworked and stressed out, but unable to stop constantly being busy because you feel you need to take care of everything.

To shut them out, your mind may simply yawn and claim, “I’m bored. There’s nothing exciting in my life. Everyone around me is boring.”

Take a look at what’s really going on if you feel bored with your life. Are you stuck in a rut? Are you overwhelmed by being behind in your work and feeling there is no human way you can ever catch up? Are you in an unhealthy relationship and feeling bored is a safe way to avoid making scary decisions about ending the marriage or relationship?

Recognize that your “boredom” is a signal that something is going on below the surface. Put aside your fear, and simply take a look. It doesn’t hurt to look, really. You don’t have to make any decisions right now. Take that pressure off yourself at this stage, and simply gather facts. Spend an hour with yourself and ask pertinent questions about your life and what is going on.

Food for thought… You can’t reduce your stress by magic. It takes an honest look at the reality of your life. And then you can make informed choices about what to do next.
