Weekend Be-Happier Tip: just do it

Spread the love

What have you been putting off?

My bet is that a list of chores ran across your mind like rats on parade. Your shoulders sagged and maybe you even sighed a little, envisioning yet another weekend filled with onerous tasks.

BUT… what about the fun things you keep putting off? Things like…

  • Going for a swim or a hike, depending on the weather where you are
  • Going out dancing, even if all that means is shoving the couch and a few chairs aside, putting on some CD’s or the radio and dancing in your living room (with a partner or solo!)
  • Wearing that outfit you bought for a special occasion and never got around to using after all. Why not put it on and enjoy it, even if just for the fun of it and you’re  not going anyplace more special than your own kitchen for a snack. Light a few candles and treat yourself to a special occasion honoring the fact that you are alive today!
  • Call a friend or family member you’ve been out of touch with.

Remember that this is not a dress rehearsal. It’s your life. And it’s up to YOU how much you enjoy each day. Sure, take care of the necessary chores, but build in time for the joys of life because it passes so swiftly and the words “too late” are a bitter pill to swallow.

Now that I’ve gotten you started with ideas for fun things to put on your JUST DO IT list, what would you add to it?

your happiness guru,

Evelyn Brooks

  1. hello from beautiful Montana,
I have put off updating my bio and speaking topics on the website for NorthWest Speakers Association. it took me about an hour.

Been stewing about it for three months. Maybe now I will just get some great articles uploaded to the website.
    Thanks, Judy Helm Wright
