- I’m afraid what he’ll do to me if I try to leave — he’s got a really nasty temper!
- He’s already threatened me that I’d better not break up with him, so I’ll just make the best of this (after all, he doesn’t beat me, so it’s not that bad)
- He’s always so sweet after he’s blown up at me, and I know that means he’s sorry he hurt me so much
- It wouldn’t be fair to leave a relationship I’ve already invested so much in
- I don’t have the money to live on my own
- The kids think he’s great and it would hurt them too much if I initiated a breakup
- Everybody else just loves this guy — other women tell me how lucky I am, so there must be something wrong with me for not being 100% happy with him
- He tells me the problem is that I’m cold and too sensitive and I’m really working on that, so I should stay and make a go of this!
