Pass it on… what is “it”? It’s a smile!
This weekend, spread sunshine by smiling everywhere you go and watch what happens.
If there is someone in your life who is the “source” of a lot of contention, stress or annoyance — give them the biggest smile of all.
Let universal love flow through you instead of your irritation with the details of the stressful relationship.
If distance separates you as well as the hurt feelings on either or both sides, then send an email or postcard with a smile and a healing comment. Or pick up the phone and surprise them with a friendly call. Don’t use this time to address any of the agendas between you. Instead, this is a simple smile that you are sharing, one human being to another, with a few friendly words such as “Thinking about you and wanted to wish you well. Sending smiles your way today. Take care…”
Try smiling at strangers in the grocery store, or the check out clerk (who is used to people talking on their cells and ignoring the person waiting on them). Watch the reaction you get when you smile — I mean a friendly harmless smile, not a leer or an overly-friendly grin that could be seen as creepy. As friendly as most people are naturally, we’ve all been taught to be wary of strangers, so don’t scare people away.
No agenda other than passing on a friendly wordless greeting that says: “Hey there, fellow human being on the planet Earth, we’re all in this together so let’s enjoy the ride!”
