I’m blogging from NYC where it is sweltering hot. That’s the excuse I’m giving for all the people at the 4th of July fireworks show (I was told the crowd was about 3 million strong) who simply left all their picnic trash and water bottles in the street when the show ended. What a huge mess. I felt embarrassed that foreign visitors might think littering is typical American behavior.
Made me think how often we “litter” in our lives — we create a mess then pretend it wasn’t us. When this happens in relationships, we can easily get caught up in a drama that’s all about defending yourself even though you’re in the wrong.
Quick tip to reduce your stress: just clean up as you go along. It’s much simpler in the long run. You don’t have to remember various stories you’ve told different people. Small problems don’t snowball into much bigger ones as you keep up the lying and denial.
your happiness guru,
PS Don’t forget to check out my new site — there were a lot of visitors earlier and some people had a hard time getting it to open but it does work. Go to http://stoparguing101.com
