Take a step towards being stress-free

Share

The first step is always the hardest — but you must move forward.

Life is all about motion!

The momentum of taking that first step will carry you up to the next step.

Don’t look at all the steps in between. Keep your focus on your goals, and enjoy the journey up.

When you’re feeling stressed, it’s because your perception of a situation has gotten twisted. You see it as being something you can’t handle!

And yet, the truth is, as an old saying puts it “God won’t give you more than you can handle.”  What happens is that we keep yesterday’s troubles in front of us all the time, too, so that today’s challenges are daunting. Add to that mess a habit of worrying about the future, and no wonder you’re stressed to the max!

Learn the one thing you can start doing differently right now — attend my free teleseminar tomorrow and I’ll explain in depth during a 60-minute telephone call. I’ll be answering your questions but you must post them in advance at this site – askevelynbrooks.com By having everyone ask the questions at my online survey, I can keep the call moving ahead quickly so I can cram a lot of info and advice into the call. If I take live questions, then we waste a lot of time with people unmuting themselves to ask the question, and then figuring out what they wanted to say, then I have to pause a moment and give my response some thought so I’m not just tossing off heedless replies.  But I love the Socratic method of Q&A and so I hope you’ll give me your burning question about how to be happy and stress-free. As a matter of fact, the topic for the call is “Be Stress-Free.”

I hope to see you on the call tomorrow — it’s at 11am PDT /2pm EDT

Location — your phone!   You’ll get the dial in number and access code when you RSVP at askevelynbrooks.com

Bonus — free replay if you sign up before the call starts. So be sure to RSVP even if you can’t attend the live call.

Coping with stress

Share

What do you do when you feel stressed out?

Scream at somebody?

Throw a fit?

Get mad about everything else in your life?

Stuff the feelings inside?

Most of us grow up with poor coping skills.

We never learn how to handle our irritations, our frustrations and our disappointments.  At least, not in a healthy way.

My online survey about stress at http://askevelynbrooks.com is a great place to submit comments and questions about what is stressing you today. (And your question might be one I pick to discuss on my next call — there’s a teleseminar scheduled for 4/21 11am PDT/2pm EDT if you want to get in on it).

It’s interesting how many people ask similar questions about unhappy relationships, or about how to deal with family members who are causing a lot of trouble, or about how to be joyful when so many things are going wrong at the same time.

One of the quickest changes you can make in how you feel is to stop taking it personally.

Understand that you haven’t been singled out by the universe to be punished with a lot of strife and unrest.  These situations that feel like crushing problems actually present valuable lessons to learn about how to stay centered inside.

One way you can learn to get centered is to look at the sky daily: watch the sun rise and set, watch the ever-changing panorama of clouds, birds flying overhead, the moon in its path, the stars as they seemingly spin overhead so that the constellation you saw a few hours earlier in the northern sky is now over your shoulder in the west.

Realize that all of us are here for a purpose — to love, to serve, to learn.

I hope to see you on my monthly free teleseminar — it’s the day after tomorrow! The topic is “Be Stress-Free.”

And if you can’t make the live call I’m making a special offer this month that if you RSVP in advance at askevelynbrooks.com, I’ll send you a link to the MP3 replay so you can listen to the 60-minute teleclass at your convenience.

I’m prepping for my next monthly free teleseminar workshop call… it’s on 3/17 … My topic this month is “Your Happiness Wish List” — let me know what you wish you could change in your life to help you feel happier and less stressed.

When you fill out the survey question at http://askevelynbrooks.com, you’ll automatically get the phone number and access code for the free call on Wed. 3/17 at 11am PDT/1pm EDT.

And don’t forget to change your clocks this weekend for Daylight Savings Time to begin on Sunday… or you’ll miss my call on Wed.!

Don’t miss the chance to ask me your most challenging question about how to be happy. Btw, on the survey’s “tell-a-friend” page, I want to assure you that your friends’ email addresses are not saved– they won’t be added to any mailing lists unless they choose to participate.

Everybody have a great day today and remember… Keep On Smiling!
