Take A Magic Carpet Ride To Happiness

Share

Magic carpet??? Is there such a thing really?  Well… not that I know of.  But even better, each of us has a magically creative mind, and with our thoughts we can lift ourselves up and out of a bad mood or a bad vibe.  Try watching this video from “Aladdin” the Disney movie and see if you don’t feel more upbeat than when you got here.  Even people who are basically optimistic or would call themselves positive thinkers can use a boost now and then, if not on a daily basis. Find what works for you when you need to shift away from negative thoughts and get your groove on.

Often, when we’re around others who are complaining or griping or predict only doom and gloom for the future (often while calling themselves cheerful people!) it’s hard not to have that downer attitude rub off and make you suddenly feel uncertain about your day, and wonder what you could possibly have been feeling so good about just a few minutes earlier. Perhaps your friend or family member carefully points out to you that you need to be more realistic and face the facts of your life — they might even rattle off a list of “bad stuff” such as bills, or a car repair you need to pay for, etc — the list can be quite long many times, and can be daunting to hear!

But instead of letting their negative outlook affect you, hold onto your own mental carpet ride and let it swoop you back into the positive vibration that is the only way to attract the good you desire.   Now here’s the video — “A Whole New World” is one of my favorite songs because it is not only beautiful music, but the lyrics are upbeat and happy!  By the way, if you’re not familiar with the story, the reason Jasmine hesitates when Aladdin holds out his hand to her and asks if she trusts him is that early in the first act, Aladdin as himself (a beggar boy not the prince he is now posing to be) held out his hand to help her and said those same words. So now, he has unwittingly revealed himself to her and yet she is unafraid and takes his hand. A special love story based on trust rather than outward appearances.

I wanted to end the July “Ultimate Blog Challenge” on an upbeat and happy note — and here’s a music video that I think will give you a mood boost!
I completed the challenge — 31 blog posts in 31 days — rotating among three of my blogs: evelynbrooks.com

happywithmybody.com

behealthyberich.com
My stated mission with all of my writing — self-help books, novels, screenplays, blogs, articles — is that my goal in life is to help everyone reduce their stress and be happier!

The first step toward changing the way you are leading your life is to take a look at what you are doing NOW — are you so focused on bills and your To Do List that you don’t really enjoy life? Do you think that “some day” things will magically be better if you can just hang on until tomorrow? This moment is all we get, so make the most of it. And when you do that — when you life each moment fully and to the best of your ability — all the days will add up to a rich and happy life.

to your happiness and success,

Evelyn Brooks

P.S.  A very happy happy birthday to my wonderful daughter today! — This song is for you.

Give Yourself Permission to Be Happy

What are you waiting for?

Are you too busy to be happy?

Are you waiting for the perfect relationship? Or the job of your dreams?  Are you holding out for that event that’s on the calendar — your birthday party in five months, that special anniversary, a longed-for trip that you’ve finally scheduled?  Are you certain you’ll manage to be happy “some day” but so far it eludes you?

What’s going on?  A lot of people are in this waiting-for-happiness mode, and it’s really just a mind game that has nothing at all to do with reality.  Surely you’ve seen photos or movie scenes that show little children simply beaming as they play a simple game with stones as they squat naked in the dirt, unaware of the squalor of their surroundings.

I think this video might cheer you up, and while you hum along, allow your mind to drift toward the things that make you smile.  A puppy? A kitten? A little bird you rescued when you were a kid and put it back in its nest?  Enjoy this… it’s “The Puppy Song” by Harry Nilsson, as heard in the opening of one of my top favorite feel-good movies, “You’ve Got Mail” –

Don’t Worry Be Happy (video)

If you’re a regular here, you already know this is my theme song…my mantra!  When we worry, we set up a negative field all inside us and around us, and all we can attract are even more negative thoughts and feelings. It sounds so simplistic but it’s really a powerful principle that you can start apply to your life — RIGHT NOW! No need to wait, no need to study a thick book about it and puzzle your way towards happiness on a hit-or-miss basis.  If you are feeling low about something, a quick way to start moving back up on that feel-good ladder is to hum or sing a happy song like this one– so, enjoy the video and keep on smiling.

to your happiness and wellbeing,
Evelyn Brooks
