Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you’ll find one at the end of your arm … As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands. One for helping yourself, the other for helping others. Audrey Hepburn
It’s so easy to get caught up with your own life and all the details calling (or screaming) for your attention! This happens to all of us, but it doesn’t mean you have to blindly continue this way for the rest of your life. If you feel a sense of dissatisfaction with the way relationships are going, and you’re tired of working and not feeling fulfilled, take a look at what you are doing for other people.
Reach out a helping hand! Take your eyes off what you have in front of you — probably a long To Do List — and see what other people need. It doesn’t mean you must give up everything important to you and from now on spend every waking moment helping others. The life of Mother Teresa is not for everyone. But it doesn’t have to be a matter of extremes either. You can incorporate service for others into your daily life in simple ways.
Start with a smile and asking how you can help. You might be surprised to find that the people closest to you have just been waiting for you to open up and reach out.
