And yet, look all around at the messages we are bombarded with daily – to look like someone else, to act a certain way to get the right job, the right relationship. If you follow all the advice, you’ll quickly be spinning in confusion because the “rules” change frequently.
For real peace of mind, spend an hour today with yourself and a journal (whether it’s a purchased journal/diary, a pad of paper or a computer document doesn’t matter) and write about the vision you have for your life. Dredge up the forgotten dreams that you put aside thinking you had to. Find ways to fulfill your yearnings in healthy new ways that you might not have considered before. For example, if you are a woman who is single and over 40 and you’ve always dreamed of having a family of your own but that didn’t seem to happen for you, look at all the opportunities to interact with kids who would love to have a warm and caring presence in their life, such as volunteering, teaching kids to read, interacting with support groups for foster kids. There are so many ways to make dreams come true!
Don’t settle for less than being the authentic, genuine, wonderful person you are. Let your uniqueness radiate so we can all benefit from the talents you bring to the world at this point in time… right when we need so much all the joy and love you have to offer.
