Be-Happier Tip: 3 Reasons To Keep On Smiling

Share

WHY SHOULD YOU BOTHER SMILING?

After all, you might say, “I’ve got too much on my mind!”… or “I’m working on a problem right now!”  … or “I’m going through some heavy stuff, dude!”

If we can pause for a moment and think about it, we usually realize there’s always time for a smile.  Here are three good reasons to go ahead and lift the corners of your mouth — get out of that upside-down grimace and start smiling:

  1. You’ll send feel-good hormones rushing through your body, so you will feel more empowered to tackle that “problem” you’ve got.
  2. You’ll be more pleasant to be around and thus will attract friendly, happy people into your orbit — they can offer support for what you’re trying to accomplish and help you keep your focus on the positive
  3. You’ll feel energized instead of down in the dumps!

Watch this lovely video of Dean Martin singing one of my fave happy songs “When You’re Smiling” — the clip is from a 50s TV show called “The Colgate Hour” (yes, for you youngsters that means Colgate toothpaste was the show’s sponsor!) –

Don’t Worry Be Happy (video)

If you’re a regular here, you already know this is my theme song…my mantra!  When we worry, we set up a negative field all inside us and around us, and all we can attract are even more negative thoughts and feelings. It sounds so simplistic but it’s really a powerful principle that you can start apply to your life — RIGHT NOW! No need to wait, no need to study a thick book about it and puzzle your way towards happiness on a hit-or-miss basis.  If you are feeling low about something, a quick way to start moving back up on that feel-good ladder is to hum or sing a happy song like this one– so, enjoy the video and keep on smiling.

Why the Rich Get Richer and the Poor Get Poorer watch video

Share

You may remember hearing an old song from the 1930s Depression Era, that includes the lyrics: “… the rich get rich and the poor get poorer — in the meantime, in between time, ain’t we got fun!”

But have you ever stopped to think about why that’s a common saying, “The rich get richer”?

Because it’s true!  Why? Because people who have money think about it in a positive way, they think about ways to have more, to spend more — they think with an abundance outlook.

But someone who is “broke”? They look at bills and worry they’ll get even more, they concentrate their thoughts on lack instead of prosperity, they go into a store and immediately tighten up with fear that they can’t afford what they want and had better shop carefully for bargains. They think “poverty” and attract more of the same as a result.

Without necessarily realizing it on a conscious level — because most of us were not taught this growing up and didn’t learn how to apply the Universal Laws in our lives to great benefit — each person (the “rich” one and the “poor” one) is using the Law of Attraction to get the results they are getting.  NOT necessarily the results they wish for, in the case of the so-called broke person or the one with get-rich-quick-schemes who is always failing but bounces back with another wild idea they secretly believe will also fail — but ALWAYS the results that “match” their emotional thinking.

The Law of Attraction says that like attracts like, meaning you get back what you put out in vibration, whether positive or negative. And it works 100% of the time, the same way gravity works 100% of the time. Even a feather will drift slowly back to earth unless something keeps it aloft such as a wind current (but that does not mean gravity stops working!)

Here’s a video you might enjoy that will explain a quick way out of negative thinking about money:

Be-Happier Tip: Don’t Get Narcissized

Share

One of the most stressful relationships you can land in is one with a narcissist. If you’ve been “narcissized” — attacked by a narcissist — you might not even know it on a conscious level. But you sure do feel rotten and confused.  Putting it briefly, a narcissist is someone who views the world and all the people in it through special “me-colored glasses.”  It’s not a matter of simply being vain about their looks, which many think narcissism means.  Narcissistic Personality Disorder, or NPD, is a serious mental affliction that makes it nearly impossible for the narcissist to have what most of us would call a normal relationship. They are incapable of love, incapable of empathy, and are easily offended. They live in a world of their own making, filled with delusions of grandeur and self-importance. If you thwart something they want — such as breaking up with them — or even make a mild comment they take as a criticism, you will quickly become the victim of narcissistic rage — and that is what being narcissized is all about.
