Are you “self-fruitful”?

While outside with my dogs a little while ago, I was enjoying the blossoms on my new Santa Rosa plum tree and hoping we get a lot of fruit from it. It’s a young tree, planted last fall, and I’ve never grown plums before. Someone told me that it has to be pollinated before it will bear fruit, but that will happen if there’s another plum tree within a mile radius.  Hmmm.  Today, I noticed one of the tags reads “Self-fruitful.”

I can only assume that means we don’t have to wait for outside pollination in order to get fruit from this tree.

Made me think of how often in life we “wait” to be inspired or motivated by someone else when we actually have the power inherently inside us all along.

I push myself hard with my writing projects and other endeavors — and now I have a name for it — I’m self-fruitful!

Are you? If not, do you see the value in keeping yourself motivated – and learn to be “self-fruitful”?

Have a great Saturday!
