3 Ways to Reduce Fear-based Stress

www.evelynbrooks.com Do you sometimes feel so fearful and anxious that it seems your head might explode? There’s no need to get that stressed out — try these simple tips to get the fear under control so you can be calm and confident:

  1. Imagine that the inside of your head suddenly goes blank — completely white and blank! Like a sheet of paper.  Breathe softly and slowly, and realize that the contents of your thoughts are up to you, even if it might seem that others are the ones causing your anxiety and fear.
  2. Send out an S.O.S. to the universe — even if it’s the middle of the night and you don’t want to call a friend, you can always ask for help. Picture yourself holding out your hand for a lifeline, and then picture a lifesaver being tossed directly to you!
  3. Write about it — when you feel fearful, it can often seem that the whole world is crushing in on you. Don’t allow fear to have that much power over you!  Sit with your computer or with paper & pen, and start writing without giving it a lot of excess thought. Do a stream-of-consciousness exercise where you simply start off by writing:  I feel afraid and anxious right now because… and then WRITE! By getting it all out on paper you can recognize more easily what you are dealing with, instead of having this vague monsters in your head.
