Persistence

Share

No matter what your goals are, there will be times when you feel stressed out by failure and setbacks. This  happens to all of us, so don’t take it personally.  (If you do that, you doom yourself to a negative reaction that sours all your hopes and dreams.)

Persistence is the key word to remember when you are feeling discouraged.

I even had to show persistence in posting this article because as I started writing it, my browser crashed and when I got back to my site later, the draft had not been saved.

So many people have told me that they stress out over their weight, their attempts at dieting, their failed exercise programs…

it’s taken a few months to put this together and have time for it, but I’d like to announce my new blog at http://happywithmybody.com/

I hope you’ll take a moment to go there, check it out and share it with your friends.

Even if you don’t worry about your weight or fitness, you may know someone who does, and I’d greatly appreciate the help in spreading the news.

Don’t stress out… be happy!

Weekend Be-Happier Tip: spice it up

Share

With the change of seasons (into autumn or spring, depending which hemisphere you are in), we often find ourselves thinking of other changes in our lives. Little things like the weather change and resulting change of clothing or activities. Bigger things, like seeking ways to grow and stretch yourself to become more fully who you are.  A special being, here on this planet for a temporary journey.

This weekend, why not spice things up? Try new seasonings in your cooking or eat out at a different cuisine you’ve never tried.  Go to the bookstore or library and get some new books about subjects that interest you. If you’re curious about how glass blowers make those elegant bowls, vases and goblets, search online or watch a video about it. Push yourself to do something a bit different this weekend, something that SPICES your life… add savor, add pleasure, add joy.  And share it with someone.

What do you howl about?

I video’d these two Siamang apes at the Los Angeles Zoo this week – their song is so loud we could hear it all over that area of the zoo, and it goes on a long time, up to 30 minutes at a time. My video is short – I hope you enjoy it.

Take a moment to think what you find worth shouting or singing about… Is it your work or job? Your love life? Your kids? I love my work, I’m a writer and I will never retire. I have so many things I want to share with people through words and film.

Stay informed

This young “Duiker” – a type of African antelope — appears to be reading the information about itself in the nursery section at the Los Angeles Zoo.

And he’s got the right idea!
