Virtual book reading of my new book

Share

Don’t bother to get dressed up.

Stay in your jeans or sweats.

Save your gas or bus tokens.

Enjoy the comfort of your own chair instead of a hard fold-up chair in a bookstore.

Listen at any time, at your convenience.

What’s going on?  It’s a VIRTUAL BOOK READING!

I know that a live in-store book reading is a common, traditional way for an author to promote their new book. But hey, the internet helps us get past traditions while keeping to the spirit of it. So I’ve created an MP3 “author reading” of my new book, GET HAPPY TODAY:  Your Path to Lifelong Happiness

If you’d like to hear me read “Chapter 2, Stumbling Blocks” PLUS get a powerful tip that isn’t in the book but that can help you to start feeling happier right now — run to (“click on”)  my book site and enjoy the virtual book reading without having to go to a bookstore..  It’s at gethappytoday.com

Did I mention there is no charge? Bring your own beverage, though. I couldn’t figure a way to host snacks for a virtual event.

I’m celebrating the final day of the “ultimate” 31-day blog challenge I have just completed. Please join me at my book reading.  But don’t buy the book yet — wait until Sat. 9/11 because 50% of author proceeds for all sales of “Get Happy Today” will be donated to The National September 11 Memorial & Museum Let’s make a difference together!

Where there’s a will, there’s a wall

Where there’s a will, there’s a wall

I love that quote from Michael Beckwith, the spiritual teacher you may have seen in “The Secret.”

You  may be more familiar with the old saying,  “Where there’s a will, there’s a way” because many of us grew up with that quote as a pep talk to remind us to keep trying when there was something we want to achieve.  Find that “way” to make it work, to force things to turn out exactly how you want.

But the thing I believe Beckwith is teaching, which I agree with, is that when you get caught up in the whirlwind of self-will, and you focus completely on a specific goal, you will slam into a wall. You will be resisting the reality of things that come up around you, and instead keep on pushing and pushing, determined to get what you feel entitled to.

In the process, you can get totally stressed out, and wreck not only your life but relationships you’re involved in with others at home and work.

Solution? Instead, learn to take the path of least resistance and use your energy to go with the universal flow of good.

Wake yourself up to all the possibilities in your life, instead of staying stubbornly focused on a single goal that you feel you must achieve at all costs. Seek that window in the wall.

Rerouting opportunities

Is it a roadblock, or is it something that will lead you to new and better results?

Something I’ve learned the hard way is that life doesn’t always go the way I think is “best.”  A wit says, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans!”

I don’t believe there’s anyone out to get me or that the universe deliberately pinpoints me and sends trouble my way, but it does seem that if I have very specific outcomes in mind, I really am setting myself up to feel thwarted or disappointed.

Instead, when life gives me lemons (or boulders in the path), I can stop, assess the situation and see if I’m being shown a new path to take. Inevitably, it will lead me toward unexpected blessings and surprises.

Seeking the opportunity… that’s the change in attitude that has helped me to remain happy no matter what happens during the journey.

Even when it’s hard.

Use the Spam advantage

 What is “Spam”?

Before the internet and email, “Spam” was simply a canned meat product, made originally from what many would term unwanted scraps of meat and animal organs. It was a clever way to use parts that could not be sold in an as-is condition to the public.

Then unwanted email became nicknamed “spam” and if you are an internet marketer and sent out a lot of email blasts that weren’t wanted by people, you get called a “spammer”.  And that’s not a good thing.

With all the use of “spam” as meaning unwanted email, you might think the original company would’ve withdrawn their product from the marketplace in embarrasment.  But instead, you might have noticed what they’ve done — they’ve expanded!  They’ve got more products than ever.

Something I noticed when I was clearing my email spam folder in gmail, there was a little adlink at the top of the folder for… you guessed it…
